Our New Home
The new Centre is located in the heart of Hong Kong’s poorest district, Sham Shui Po. It is within walking distance of a number of government-subsidized housing estates and subdivided flats. Centre offerings include a regional training hub for working with at-risk young children in low resource settings, a demonstration centre for community collaboration, training of trainers, practitioners, and parents, and best practice-sharing, as well as a replicable model early learning centre for the young children of low-income, marginalized local families.
Work at the OSGC will be comprised of various elements:
- Early Learning Centre – Serving 166 at-risk children, ages 0-6 from the local Sham Shui Po community, with special emphasis on infants and toddlers, inclusion and school-readiness for children at risk. This centre will be designed to serve as a model for establishing satellite centres, in partnership with local NGOs, in Sham Shui Po and other marginalized communities.
- Training of Trainers (TOT) – Serving local and regional child development professionals and social workers, addressing the special requirements of young children living in adversity, as well as teaching best practice parenting skills (Family Skills Training), and how to develop and scale OneSky-inspired programs.
- Resource Centre – Serving the local and global ECD communities, a library of training materials for distribution in print, online, and video; and providing a place for sharing information about innovations in early childhood care and education, best practices, and current research.
