An Invitation

It is with great excitement that we invite you to participate in OneSky’s Campaign for All Children, a USD 20 million effort to build a better future for the disadvantaged children of Hong Kong and the Asia Pacific region. With your support and in collaboration with a caring community, OneSky will put to work lessons learned during 20 years of early intervention to benefit young children at risk, and create the OneSky Global Centre for Early Childhood Development.

The Hidden Need

Despite its real estate boom and apparent prosperity, the yawning gap between rich and poor in Hong Kong is wider than ever and shows no signs of diminishing. One in five children live in poverty. One in ten lives with a single parent. Families of Hong Kong’s most vulnerable children also include the unemployed, new arrivals, ethnic minorities, and teenage mothers. New arrivals, in particular, have a poverty rate of 30.1% compared to the overall average of 14.7%.

The Campaign

A capital campaign, with the objective of raising a minimum of HK $158 million for the creation of a sustainable foundation for the Centre, began in 2018 with a feasibility study, and will continue until we have reached our goal. Our hope is to do so within two years. Start-up and first year operating costs are budgeted at HK $26 million. Happily, that initial funding is now secured and the project is now underway.

About OneSky

OneSky believes in the vast potential hidden in our world’s most vulnerable young children. We develop low-cost, replicable early childhood intervention models to benefit marginalized young children, then train and mentor caregivers and communities as they take our models to scale, ensuring that those in their care have a second chance at childhood.

Our New Home

The new OSGC is located in the Wing Shing Building in the heart of Hong Kong’s Sham Shui Po. It is within walking distance of a number of government-subsidized housing estates and subdivided flats. The OSGC will occupy 2.5 stories and 16,000 square feet. Ground floor will house a parents’ gathering spot, playroom, and toy library. First floor will be an early learning and care centre for ages 0-3, and second floor will house playrooms for ages 3-6 along with training and community gathering spaces.
